The look you can’t see

I been told that some ladies feel that women in general are diminished, by the unrealistic look standards set forth by the modern media. I could argue that it goes both ways and I acknowledge that some might find this hurtful. I have recently come to observe though, that at least some men, fortunately, seem to carry more mental awareness than to simply rely on looks alone. I saw a substantial and beautiful photo album on a photo entertainment website a while back, with a simple and beautiful message. Hundreds of different boys and men posted a photo of their secret love, whom they had been in the presence of somewhere, asking the masses if anyone knew her. There were no common “magazine” denominator about these women. All beautiful but so different. Big, tattooed, nerdy, colorful, silly, powerful, emotional, classy, street, black, freckled, tan, messy, pale, philanthropic, nurturing, giving, wild… They were all so vibrant, so individually appealing and so alive! I was happy to recognize that others beside myself are looking for that one thing that our eyes cannot see, but our mind can spot a mile away. I was happy to be reassured in thinking that we are better than that; that true happiness exist parallel to looks :-).
