The American system

If you ever, despite all common logic, want to experience first hand, just how complex and obscenely complicated the American system is; try applying for a Maryland driver’s license with a valid Georgia driver’s license and a 35 page legal document, stating that you’re a legal alien with a valid work permit. If I didn’t have a car (which I’m technically not allowed to operate), the journey these Muppets are making me travel, would most definitely outlast my scheduled stay on this planet.

The MVA in Maryland consists of the following:

– A clerk crew with no knowledge of immigration processes or documents required… or general hygiene.
– A team of specialists with no authority whatsoever. I think they were born there with instructions not to move or act; ever!
– An automated phone system that knows all the technical terms in the business, but with no options to make choices or speak to a representative.
– A website that contradicts all the functions listed above.

Here’s a fun example: I will get fined or even arrested, if I’m pulled over and I don’t have a Maryland driver’s license within 60 days of moving to Maryland. To get a driver’s license in Maryland as an international transferee, you have to make an appointment at one of the authorized regional offices (which takes more than just plain skills to find). The wait time for and open time slot, is +2 months.
