ITIL

One and a half year ago the company that I work for started to implement a new IT freamework called ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), which is designed to stream line all service processes within an IT organization. The idea is great but it’s just not a suitable solution for my company; too many decisions makers and too many uncontrolled self-proclaimed geniuses with “great” ideas. Upper management is desperately trying to ensure us that everything is on track, and that a troublesome implementation process is a path all great concepts must venture through. An element of the ITIL process are so-called RFC’s (Request For Change) that we are encouraged to submit to continuously improve the process. Gotcha! Today I submitted an RFC to corporate suggesting that we abandon ITIL with the bit of dignity we got left. We’re a very young organization and you don’t crawl into a rocket ship wearing diapers. Awaiting response…
